Description:
'The One who plants a Tree, knowing that he or she will never sit in their shade, has at least started to understand the Meaning of Life' - Rabindranath Tagore
Van Mahotsav is a week-long tree-planting festival observed every year in India in the first week of July to create awareness among people about their duties and responsibilities towards nature, forests and maintaining the ecological balance on Earth. Trees play a vital role for the existence of life on Earth. They not only provide us with fresh air to breathe but also give is food, medicines and other useful things. Despite of so many gifts that we get from trees, we often forget our role in the protection and conservation of forests.
This year, the students of SKCS celebrated Van Mahotsav on 10th July, 2021 through the virtual platform. The students, dressed up in shades of green, gave their thoughtful presentation through poems and slogans highlighting the benefits of having trees, the importance of forests for the sustenance of life and how we can protect them. They tied ribbons to the trees to show their love and shared the important facts such as medicinal benefits of those trees. Through their presentation, they reflected the pain caused to the trees because of our inhuman actions like deforestation, burning of forests, pollution of land, etc.
On this occasion, our Headmistress ma'am discussed about the global crisis such as excessive rise in temperature and loss of flora and fauna affecting human life all over the world because of cutting down of trees. She encouraged the students to plant more and more trees for a better and healthy future.
The programme was organized by the teachers of Hindi Department and was anchored by Soumya from Class 8C. The Vote of Thanks was rendered by Ms. Rashmi Singh.
